COVID-19: Oyo Reopens Schools, Worship Centers As Workers Are To Fully Resume

The Government of Oyo State led by Seyi Makinde on Monday announced the resumption of religious activities in the state.

This decision was made known by the Chief Press Secretary to Makinde, Taiwo Adisa.

Adisa said that the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force reached the decision after holding a meeting that lasted for two and a half hours.

However, churches and mosques are expected to operate at 25% of their normal capacity. This sounds ambiguous because there is no how government can determine this.

Also, schools are to partially resume on June 29 as Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 students are expected to return to the class to prepare for their exit examinations.

All students and their teachers are expected to wear nosemask.

The Government also enjoined schools to provide hand washing buckets for their pupils.

The statement urged schools to liaise with Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) to achieve this.

The Government is considering full reopening of schools on July 15.

In addition, all Secretariat workers are to resume work next week after being at home for almost three months.

The state government has also reviewed curfew to 10pm to 4am.

He said the government is still reviewing possible resumption date for tertiary institution students.
